Federal “Cash For Clunker Appliances” Rebate Program *finally* Arrives

Dear Friends:

We spoke with many of you last October when first word of the “Cash for Clunker Appliances” was announced. It was initially slated to launch in November 2009, however, very little information followed with few specific details. November came and went.

We monitor the Recovery Act list server and have good news. The program has arrived! It took several months to identify a contractor to administer the program, but that has been completed and the rebates will be available starting April 22, 2010.

Also know as as the “Energy Efficient Appliance Rebate Program”, it has $35.2 million available for Californian’s to help with the purchase of Energy Efficient Washing Machines, Refrigerators, and Room Air Conditions. The $50-$100 rebates are IN ADDITION to the generous rebates already available from both you local electric and gas utility.

For example, if you are an LADWP customer and purchase a qualifying clothes washer, you will receive $300 from LADWP, $35 from Socal Gas, and $100 from the federal rebate program.
